Risk Oversight and Governance

The Risk Oversight and Governance Board (ROGB) offers concise, informative guidance materials for boards of directors and senior managers. These guides provide a practical approach to help directors fulfill their responsibility for governance and the oversight of risk management.  Formerly known as the Risk Management and Governance Board, the name has recently been changed to better reflect the nature of directors’ oversight role.

What’s New?

The Board has a growing number of publications and maintains an active list of current projects addressing governance from a variety of perspectives:

The Directors Series

  • The 20 Questions Series — These booklets entitled “20 Questions Directors Should Ask…”, address subjects of importance to directors through twenty questions that they might ask management, advisors or themselves.
  • Director Alerts These publications are brief, informative bulletins to advise boards about developing issues.
  • Director Briefings – These booklets both raise awareness and provide questions for directors to ask about leading-edge governance issues.
  • Comments and Commentaries — Articles, comment letters and other written materials.

The Not-for-Profit Directors Series

  • The NPO 20 Questions Series — This series of “20 Questions”-style documents provides questions that directors of not-for-profit organizations should ask about important issues in non-profit governance.
  • The NPO Director Briefings — These short bulletins focus on developing issues affecting the governance of not-for-profit organizations.
  • Columns and Commentaries — Articles, and other written materials on non-profit
    governance.

The CFO Series: What Boards Should Expect from CFOs

These publications focus on the role of CFOs and their relationship with boards of directors.
